After scanning rather quickly through my Aapache access.log I found a line that really stood out.
69.114.242.22 – – [01/Oct/2006:15:05:04 -0400] “GET /rms.html HTTP/1.1” 200 1390 “http://search.msn.com/results.aspx?q=buts&mkt=es-US&form=QBRE&go.x=9&go.y=14” “Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; SV1)” “-”
The interesting part is the “q=buts” part. That means that the user searched for the word “buts” and was linked to my page about Richard Stallman’s talk that he gave in Pittsburgh. So I naturally went on to live.com and tried it myself. Lo and behold it was right there on the second page of the results. I wonder what horribly broken algorithms the Live team is using in their search engine.
